The SMO provides Software Engineering tools, techniques, training, consultation and Independent Assessment services to KSC programs and projects.

Software Engineering is considered to be the application of a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the development, operation, and maintenance of software; that is, the application of engineering to software.
