The mission of the NASA Cost Analysis community is to provide superior customer-measured quality service, analytical innovation, and high quality, motivated people in the performance of the cost analysis function. The NASA Cost Analysis community will be the leader in advancing the state-of-the-art in cost modeling, cost tracking and database development (Improve Tools); enhance the professionalism of the NASA cost analysts by implementing an effective staffing and training plan (Enhance People); become the premier government organization for developing responsive, reliable, quality costs analyses and cost estimates (Better Organization); and work with NASA management to assure that programs can be completed within the program estimate (Improve Processes).
The Kennedy Space Center Systems Management Office cost estimating function stands ready to serve in either an advocate role to allow program/project managers to make more informed decisions based on valid cost estimates/cost analyses or a non-advocate role by providing an assessment of probable future costs and cost risk. |
